Description: A classic American red ale
brewed for the color, flavor & aroma that
comes from using a delicate blend of barley
malts, whole British hops, pure water and a
special blend of yeast. Clean and crisp flavor,
alluring aroma and unmistakable natural
color.
Aroma: A rich hop aroma from late kettle
additions of British hop varieties mixed with
caramel grain aroma.
Appearance: Sparkling copper red.
Flavor: Moderate hop flavor from British hop
varieties. Well balanced malt sweetness with
hop bitterness. Moderate caramel flavor is
strong.
Mouthfeel: Medium body and dazzling.
Overall Impression: Caramel malt
balances the hop bitterness.
History: Called West Coast amber ales by some authors, this
beer style was spun-off from the American pale ale style.
Comments: In the past, this category used to be part of American
pale ale. Classically redefined as an American amber/red ale, differ from American
pale ales not only by being darker in color, but also in having more caramel
flavor and usually being balanced more evenly even between malt and bitterness.
Ingredients: American organic two-row malt, organic crystal
and small amounts of special organic malts mixed with British hops.
